Urginea maritima bulbs x3
Commonly known as Sea Squill or crusaders' spears this striking, unusual and dramatic flower grows to a height of 90cm and is seen growing in rocky coastal areas in the Mediterranean, west Asia and northern Africa often in shallow, rocky, well drained soils. The tall upright flower spikes have beautiful densely packed white star-like blooms, with unusual lime-green anthers on a purple stem.
Glossy green leaves, often with a blue tinge, develop early in the season (and from autumn through winter), up to a meter long, creating a lovely green backdrop and flower spikes appear in August to October and the foliage will have died back completely.
