Brunnera or Siberian Bugloss are perfect plants for shadier areas of your garden, they're low-growing perennials that form clumps, with very attractively marked foliage. These stunning dramatic plants have large heart-shaped leaves with green and airy sprays of blue, forget-me-not-like flowers in spring. They are low maintenance and grow well in borders and containers in those cooler shady areas.

Origin/native: Native to woodlands of North West Asia and Eastern Europe.

Brunnera macrophylla 'Alexanders Great'

Stunning dramatic plants for shady areas that have large heart-shaped silver leaves that are veined and edged with green and airy sprays of blue, forget-me-not-like flowers in spring. Deciduous, rhizomatous, mound-forming hardy perennial. Perfect choice for garden borders or patio containers. Low maintenance and easy to grow. Height - 40cm.

Brunnera macrophylla 'Variegata'

This striking variegated plant forms clumps of heart-shaped leaves with lovely splashes of cream-white and green. The sprays of bright blue forget-me-not flowers appear from mid-spring. It's great for woodland and shady areas both in borders and containers, you can edge paths for a bright plant that draws the eye. Mix with other shade plants too, like hosta and ferns. Height - 40cm.
